Sandwich Maker - Enjoy Grilled Sandwiches with Dripping Cheese at Home

I don’t know how me and my family would have survived this long if my mom wasn’t around. It might seem like a regular thing to many, but planning what to cook well in advance and preparing something that the entire family will like to eat within a limited time is not at all easy. Today while running my own kitchen, I can’t help feeling that I should have thanked her everyday. After coming back from work, all I feel like making is salad and light dishes every night. And then the dread of what to have for breakfast the next day gives me stress from cooking. My mom got really worried after hearing about my irregular food habits. And like a guarding angel she has always been, my mom sends me a sandwich maker and all her favourite sandwich recipes with it. I don’t know why it didn’t cross my mind to buy one, but the thought of using the appliance made me excited about cooking all over again.

A Brief History of Sandwich Makers

Sandwiches have always been my favourite. They are easy to prepare, less time consuming, healthy and makes for a delicious breakfast. In short, it’s a great food to start your day with. I was so fond of it, that I even did my research and wrote an essay on it back in high school. It so happens, that the fire roasted bread and the melted cheese sandwich had bewitched people before the arrival of 20th century. The lack of food joints had made sandwich popular among the travellers and day workers. But the first sandwich maker was used by Australians and South Africans. It was two square pieces of cast iron held over fire with the help of tongs to soften the meat and melt the cheese. But some say it debuted as a toastwich in the US before 1920.
